Tua Valley Interpretive Centre

The Tua Valley Interpretive Centre is housed in two disused hangars of the Tua train station. One part took up residence in a centennial timber hangar, which was restored plank by plank. The second part was more comprehensively renovated. The zinc cladding reconciles two almost antagonistic choices for us: sourcing of a material to blend with the industrial character of this venue, while at the same time expressing a noble dimension in line with the Douro’s status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
O Centro Interpretativo do Vale do Tua foi instalado em dois hangares desocupados na estação do Tua. Uma parte do programa instala-se num hangar centenário em madeira, que foi restaurado tábua a tábua. A outra parte ocupa um hangar com uma renovação mais profunda. O revestimento em zinco permite conciliar quase duas escolhas antagónicas: fundir o caracter industrial do lugar com uma expressão nobre compatível com o estatuto de Douro Património Mundial da Unesco.
