The case of Garage-Loft

The Neapolitan Bassi - small dwellings on the ground oor with direct access to the busy streets of Naples - participate in de ning the spatial porous structure of the city, that is based on a mechanism of crossing the thresholds of private and public, while meeting the otherness.
In the Bassi dwellings the housing condition are often very poor and improper.
Garage-Loft project aims at turning this condition into a new common living habit, that could allow people to inhabit the urban ground oor, while de ning a socio-spatial network of osmotic bondings.
Bassi napoletani – piccole abitazioni al piano terra con accesso diretto sulle strade traf cate di Napoli – partecipano a de nire la struttura spaziale porosa della città, che è basata su un meccanismo di attraversamento delle soglie del privato e del pubblico, e di incontro dell’alterità.
Nei Bassi la condizione abitativa è spesso pessima e impropria.
Il progetto Garage-Loft aspira a sovvertire tale condizione secondo una nuova abitudine del vivere comune, che possa permettere alle persone di abitare il livello zero del suolo urbano, de nendo una rete sociale e spaziale di legami osmotici.
