The Pátio do Meco is a single family housing located in Sesimbra, Portugal. The project involved retaining the rural identity of the original pátio.
The boundary of the plot is defined by the new house and the extension, composed of abstract volumes. In the main building are the social areas and along the perimeter, the private and technical ones. Typical Mediterranean elements like the well and the shading reeds, gain prominence within the patio.
The urban morphology is respected while the new constructions promotes an anchorage within the surroundings, in a unique line. The project recreates the past in order to regenerate the present.
O Pátio do Meco é uma habitação unifamiliar situada em Sesimbra, Portugal. O projecto teve como base a identidade rural do pátio original. O limite do lote é definido pela nova casa e pela extensão, composta por volumes abstractos. No edifício principal encontram-se as áreas sociais e nos anexos, as áreas privadas e técnicas. Elementos tipicamente Mediterrâneos como o tanque e o sombreamento em madeira, ganham novo protagonismo no interior do pátio. O projeto respeita a morfologia urbana envolvente e toma a implantação das antigas construções, promovendo uma ancoragem com o envolvente numa construção única. Recria-se o passado para regenerar o presente.
